Sometimes the best things in life start when you least expect them… Like that time I accidentally started a business. 😆

In 2018, I was deep in the trenches of new motherhood—balancing a tiny 3-month-old, an energetic 4-year-old, and a husband who traveled constantly. As much as I loved being a stay-at-home mom, I felt lonely and a little lost in the endless cycle of diapers, naps, and snacks.

I wasn’t looking for a job—I was just looking for something for myself. So, when I found PaperPie (then Usborne Books & More), I joined just for the discount. No big plans. No intention of selling. Just books for my babies.

But then… something surprising happened.  I started sharing what we were reading. Friends got curious. Orders trickled in. And slowly, I realized I had stumbled into something more than just books—I had found connection, purpose, and a business that fit into my life as a mom.

​

Fast forward to today, and this little "accidental business" is still going strong.  With this business, I have partnered with many community organizations to help spread the love of reading and literacy to families who need it most.  While my children are in school, I run book fairs throughout our community, and I'm still available for after school pick up and activities.   Not because I planned it, but because it works. Because books matter. Because stories bring families together. And because this community? It’s filled with incredible moms, educators, and book lovers just like you.
